Canadian Apple retail stores to open at 7 a.m. for iPhone 4 arrival

Canadians who wants to buy their iPhone 4 will be able to access the Apple retail store from 7 a.m. this Friday July 30. Apple as just released the information on their site. Be sure to be there first (that means, way earlier than 7 a.m.) and take note that no personal shopping appointments or pre-reservations will be offered, meaning all units will be sold on a first-come first-serve basis.

We still don’t have any news on the plans and pricing from the major Canadian carriers. We will post the info as soon as we get it, it should normally be the night before the launch.

  • I’m in the same boat. Maybe I’ll just buy one outright in a few months since my 3G has become nearly unusable with 4.0.1 and the silent switch no longer works.

Typical Rogers and Canadian cell phone provider tactics for the launch of new hardware. Keep building the new customers and forget the current ones. I expect to pay a bit more than a new customer, but it shouldn’t be that much more and current customers should get first dibs. Keep writing your politicians folks. This kind of customer service has to change soon.

  • Thats funny that they wouldn’t tell you. I spoke to Rogers on Wednesday, and they told me that if you bought your subsidized iPhone prior to June 15th, you qualify to uprade to the iPhone 4. This is a similar deal that they offered a year ago with the 3GS. Not only that, but they told me that I can most definately go into a Rogers store tomorrow and get my new iPhone. They just wouldn’t tell me the price, except that it’ll be similar to last year.

  • I had to check and print my Rogers bill on their site around 6pm today and lo and behold there was a little notice begging me to check if I was eligible for my annual phone upgrade. I am, and was shown that the upgrade price for a 32Gb model (and another 3 years :P ) is $270. I can’t remember the price for the 16Gb one, but I’d guess it’s $100 cheaper… This is $30 cheaper than last year when I upgraded to a 32Gb 3GS…wonder if Rogers is expecting less upgrades this year? Maybe because of Antennagate?

  • I own 3 Rogers iPhones on a family p,an, 1 which is 2-yr old 3G presumably eligible for hardware upgrade. Rogers (1-888-ROGERS-1) will NOT tell me anything about upgrade possibilities and suggest the ONLY way for me to know is by visiting a Rogers Wireless retail outlet – NOT an Apple store. Just called my local Rogers Wireless outlet and not only will they not tell me IF they will have any iPhones tomorrow, they stated the iPhones they MAY have may only be for new customers, not upgrades. WTF!!!! Since Rogers won’t divulge anything, do any of you know?
