New Apple Ping Service Top One Million Users in First 48 Hours

Does Apple have made a good bet on going social with its iTunes 10? Apparently yes when looking at the latest numbers. New Apple Ping Service Top One Million Users in First 48 Hours of its availability.

It’s the third of all iTunes 10 activations.

An official statement from Apple mentions:
Apple today announced that in less than 48 hours since its launch on Wednesday, more than one million users have joined Ping, its new social network for music. Ping lets users follow their favorite artists and friends to discover what music they’re talking about, listening to, and downloading. “One-third of the people who have downloaded iTunes 10 have joined Ping,“ said Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of Internet Services. “As many more people download iTunes 10 in the coming weeks, we expect the Ping community to continue growing.“

Twitter for iPhone Push Notifications will be rolling out soon

Push Notifications for Twitter for iPhone is coming soon. Probably around next week, right after the new iOS 4.1 release. The Push Notifications on the Twitter app is one important lacking features for a long time. The good news, reported by Techcrunch, announced that the Push Notifications feature is currently under Twitter internal testing.

The feature is apparently inside the latest Twitter app that went out yesterday for iPad. So, users who has already iOS 4.1 installed get the option to enable Push Notifications for Twitter. It doesn’t appear to be working yet, but the feature is definitely there.

Twitter’s statement on Push Notifications:

We’ve been testing push notifications internally. When we launched Twitter for iPad, there was a configuration error that caused us to offer push messages to a small set of users. We’ve stopped sending push messages, but users may see an option to turn on push until we release an updated version of the app. So, push isn’t ready yet but we look forward to rolling this out soon.”

With a wine list of more than 700 selections… finding the perfect bottle of wine could take up all diner long. The South Gate restaurant, New York has found the perfect solution, an iPad Wine List. Browse the entire wine list of the restaurant on an iPad.

I have not a chance to experience that wine list on iPad yet but the options are infinite with the iPad. You could search by wine and food pairing, country, varietal, wine category and so on. I hope South Gate has build up a nice wine menu.

Apple Event Wrap-up – New iPods, Apple TV, iTunes 10, Ping and iOS 4.1 and iOS 4.2

The traditional Apple Media Event offered exciting new products. Apple reveals a completely new iPods lineup, a new and cheaper Apple TV, a brand new and refreshed look iTunes with now combines a social network called “Ping” and new iOS updates, starting with iOS 4.1 next week and iOS 4.2 coming November.

iTunes 10 and social “Ping”

Ping, the new social network for music. Follow your favorite artists and friends.

iTunes also got a brand new logo… Steve Jobs mention that it is legitimate since music download is taking over CD sales to let go the CD within the logo.

iOS 4.1 and iOS 4.2

The updated iOS 4.1 is coming next week. The iOS 4.1 Software Update is the first major update to iOS 4, bringing Game Center, new iTunes features, high dynamic range photography.

iOS 4.1 is intend to fix bugs (Bluetooth, proximity sensor and YES the issues over the iPhone 3G running latest iOS).

Its also brings Game Center. A social gaming platform for the iPhone. Find friends or use auto-match to play multiplayer games against new opponents. Track achievements and compare high scores.

ITunes TV shows rental and Ping features will also be included in iOS 4.1

And lastly, HDR photography and HD video uploads
Take great photos that capture a wider range of light intensity using the new high dynamic range (HDR) setting on iPhone 4, which automatically combines multiple exposures into a single HDR image. HD Video uploads allows, on its side, to upload HD video to YouTube and MobileMe from your iPhone 4.

iOS 4.2 will be released in November. It will be for iPads as well as printing over WiFi on iPad. And the new feature called Air Play which allows to stream music and video to your device over WiFi.
